While We're On The Topic of Pak Cham Kai

Photos courtesy of yhsmom who sent these pictures, with the email stating,
"Thought it was really funny that you highlighted our Leon's snowy white arms because the real Leon also had the same problem!"

Oh well. However, shudder, if you were to check out Leon's latest post, for scary halloween jam, you'd see that he now resembles Boy George, and not in his karma chameleon days, I can tell you that!!! Okay okay, I don't want our FDI to melt from sudden overexposure. Change topic.

After a month or so long hiatus, finally returned to the cyclemill, for RPM. The class was packed, and I must gotten the 2nd last bike. Someone who didn't register had to vacate his bike. Well, if there was ever any doubt whether or not RPM instructors actually turn their knobs, yesterday dispelled all doubt. In fact, I am wondering why she turned it so many rounds!!! Phwaaah. I was sitting virtually perpendicularly to the instructor, so I could see the side profile.

By track 4, I was thinking, are we on track 5? We can't POSSIBLY be still on track 4. And quite honestly, by track 7, I was in a state of day dreaming, and probably not really working out very much, except until the last 2 minutes or so. What does one say about RPM class? It was stuffy, disgustingly claustrophobic, but darn good workout. And oh the euphoria at the end of track 7. Better than ***. Almost.

Bumped into old Thursday evening combat instructor in the changing room. He was saying that the according to the choreographers, the latest combat can burn 1300 calories....wonder how that works. I was telling him I did RPM not coz I liked it, but cos it was calorie burning effective, since I once overheard a combat instructress tell a newbie that you burn 300 ++ calories during combat....which I thought was pittance. According to Eugene, (the CI I was chatting with), that's poppy cock. 300 calories if you are moving with the strength of vegetable maybe.

Being snowy white is very much sought after in Asia, hence the proliferation of whitening creams,...yes?

Try Shades's RPM, it is akin to a hot,hot sweaty club...i like...

And yeah,i think we burn, 300 cal or less when we were confined to the postage stamp size of a space in FCI's class in the days of Cherubim

mind you, dont go overboard like FSI who after his phuket holiday, came back looking like a barbequed lamb...and molted in class for a good two weeks.

speaking of tans, i've just booked an airasia package for end nov, RM1800 plus, for the whole family, ie, us, 4 kids, maid, plus accommodation at "langkasuka beach resort", PLUS breakfast, and flights..... cheap hor. i intend to get my tan there.

So lucky! Every one gets to go on a beach holiday except me!

Wau..the package sounds great ..its always fun to travel with family;which reminds me of my kids time where i used to fight everytime with my brother for the window seat..

About the PCK (Pak Cham Kai) topic .. no comment (felt guilty for always being one in the PCK group).. i've tried to get a tan one during my Bali trip last year but end up Red like a Roast Duck, but which only last about a month for the Roast duck to transform back into PCK again .aihh. All the effort and pain wasted

sidekick, pck arms are better than those muscle men who sit on the sunbed for hours to get a fake golden tan...yuickkkks!

err... exposing yourself to the sun also increases the risk of cancer leh...personally I like the PCK look, maybe because I'm tanned. The grass truly is always greener on the other side.

Havent been to Pak Cham Kai...oops, I mean Leon's jam or combat before, so have not had the privilege to view those err fixtures. Guess as long as the pak cham limbs are not "jellied", in the sense that it vibrates like one, can still stomach lah.
FBB..mmmm..so nice..whole family going to beach holiday. Am actually planning to have another foodfest in HK end of this year, if not maybe to London - to the REAL Gordon Ramsays (bar the one at Claridges).
Yah agree. Siu Kai (or just nicely done siu kai) is better than PCK anytime.

Siu Kai for me anytime!! Jellied arms? yikes... better go check myself and do more pump! :p

At 12:16 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Leon..you can get a tan, but as long as dont "siu loong" lah. Do you still go to MNWI/Riyo's pump? She doesnt teach the Saturday Curve class anymore right/

FBB..hmmm definitely agree RPM class can be disgustingly claustophobic. Had the misfortune of sitting next to this "Chau Ang Moh" in Horny's class before, and I mean he was literally "chau" ok. He suffers from an atrocious case of BO and BB. I swear I have not inhaled that much foul fumes/gas before in my life, so much so by track 3, face also turn hijau already.

Definitely the Siu Kai look for me too! I suffer from the same problem as Leon. Very difficult to get tanned or stay tanned. Have tried everything even fake tan which is a disgusting orangey colour! Most envious of those with beautiful tanned skin!

Kylie taking over the sat Curve pump class :)

Siu Loong very teruk! Fell asleep once by the beach and got sunburnt! oouch!

WAH, lionheart, going to london to try datuk ramsay? bow bow...my entire package for entire family, to langkawi, cant even buy half an air ticket to london lar.

jellied arms!!! hahaha, what a classic lionheart remark. no lah, leon doesnt have jellied arms....he so macho mah. as for BO, eugh, can imagine la.

sidekick & yhsmom, sadly most chinaks cant really tan properly.

I am basically "semi-siu", thank goodness I cannot achieve the Pak Cham Kai look at all. I think the nearest to achieving the pak cham skin is after my varsity days and called to the Bar. London only got smog, therefore, can only see the sun 25% of the year. Oh, but I got siu loong before on a beach holiday, and it was so teruk. I was mistaken to be a Malay, and the shops refused to sell me food during the Ramadhan period.

I am pretty nuetral, snowy white or tawny tan is fine...but nicely toned arms look good...

Hi SC, you look fine to me, kinda exotic...:p (and yesterday's fci combat was such a laugh! had a great time!)

At 3:09 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

FB- thanks..I like my skin tone too, the only thing is, people always think I'm melayu ( FCI included, although he knows my name!). Not that its bad, just life gets difficult during fasting month and whenever I walk into a restaurant that serves "short legged cows". Can imagine what goes through their minds..."this malay girl ah, not fasting, somer more eat pork...aiyo!"
Luckily other half is PCK most of the time..

Oh..the previous comment was from me, SC

LOUD LAUGHTER, SC....
"Luckily other half is PCK most of the time.."
Can you be more specific? other half of your body, or other half as in "your other half"...?? If the latter, yar, the current one certainly is rather PCK.

lionheart, how u can be mistaken as a malay is really beyond me, no matter what skin tone.

At 3:59 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Definately did not mean other half of my body...my genes are certainly not that screwed up, FB! Yes, I meant my other half..who is PCK. Which I still like anyways. Only PCK's have the ability to blush, naturally, which I so envy.

FBB...dunno how, but definitely has been mistaken to be Melayu. Have also been mistaken to be Filipino as well. Talking of which, have a sinking feeling my daughter will start speaking Tagalog, since she spends a good chunk of the day with my two Filipina maids, conversing in *#@$&#...

There are a few grades of PCK leh... the sickly pale PCK, the ghostly green PCK, the rosy pink PCK etc :p hehehe

Lionheart, a few of my friends wil be going to the FAT DUCK London later this month. I'll rather try out GR's food or if I can afford it... Thomas Keller's French Laundry!

I've been mistaken for a Thai, Jap and Korean at various point of my life. Should go scan my old photo of when I'm tanned (for a shortwhile) and obese :p shudder...

FB: You are right about tanning limitations of our ethnic type. Can'tr understand though why Singaporeans tan so much better than Malaysians. Just walk down Orchard Road and there are so many people with beautiful healthy glowing tans!

At 10:33 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

YouKH: Fat? No way! Never! You fat? Cannot possibly imagine it, so yes, please publish the pics. I'll show you mine if you show me yours? Hehehe..
yhsmom: I think the Singaporeans have a thing about walking about in the sun, thats why they seem to have a perpetual tan.
