The Missing Lion

Expected to see Lion at FPI's class. I've been missing for a few weeks, coz have had to bring kids for swimming class. Twas nice to be back in the old familiar surroundings. It occured to me in the class that this was a very serious class. It is probably the equivalent of a Form 5 class a week before SPM, when the mood is sombre and tense. As opposed to the Tuesday 5.45pm class, which is like a School Prom. Girls shrieking in esctasy, and lots of noise.

Anyway, the head prefect was missing, ....the teacher looked a bit disappointed, coz he had lined up all these killer tracks. Lots of familiar faces there. Dave lookalike, Uncle Tan, etc. The chest track was a killer, Pump It Up, ....mercifully, time ran out, and he omitted abs, through popular consensus, though Uncle Tan was muttering in the changing room that somehow missing one track didnt seem complete.

Tired By Warm Up Track

I've always wanted to attend Riyo's step class, because I was sure she'd be an awesome step instructress. Then recently I hear Leon has been attending regularly, the Wed evening class. Ah, all the more incentive. Seeing a star in action.

So yesterday thankfully there were no obstacles, such as falling asleep in Osim chair, etc. Was there in good time. MNLI looked shocked to see me, ....love her feigned expression of disbelief. The energy levels in the class are unbelievable. Almost full house, it was like doing step with a 1000 energizer bunnies in the room. By the end of the warm up I was winded. By track 3 I was thinking I could not possibly last the class.

I still can't get myself to do those funny around the head hand movements for the Vogue Track by Madonna. And omigosh, the track 7 was a killer as well. Haven't sweated like that since .......

FSI should feel threatened..... that title can possibly go to so many! So many great step instructors!! Unlike combat. Cheh.

Let's Do This Together

Odd choice of words....FSI, who was replacing Klevin for pump, said, during the lunge track.

Let's do this together, go deep! Thrust me. It'll work. (I think the song was Trust me).

FSI looked surprised to see me, and warned me it was an easy class. Liar. Rise, the warm up. Why does everyone do that song? Then squats, Voodoo child. He lived up to his reputation as a Fearsome Squat Instructor. Come to think of it, he does have well endowed thighs. The girls in that Tuesday evening class are real screamers. You'd think they were having a Meg Ryan in Harry Met Sally moment.

In keeping with the olympics flavour, Clean and Presses were Olympia. Triceps had dips. Biceps was short, but painful. Shoulders had cross over pushups. So I don't know what in heck he meant by it was going to be an easy class. Liar liar pants on fire.

Dying Blog

Well, have been away, that's why, in Bangkok. After crowning him FPI, I haven't been to a single one of his classes since then!!!

Last Saturday, despite having jogged earlier in Bt Kiara, I get an sms from GW (Gorgeous Woman) saying, "AM TEACHING TODAY, PROMISE"..... referring to a few weeks ago when I went for body step coz the timetable showed her teaching, but ended up with Kenny instead. Not that that was a bad thing, I love Kenny's step class too. So, aching calves and all, I drag myself to the gym late Saturday evening, and had a great step class. I am reminded again why she is NGXM or RGXM or whatever her title is.... she really is in a league of her own. Crisp, clear cueing, really, faultless class.

Then, it was FCI's last class before his one month hiatus in the USA. Of course, he announced that he had requested Leon to replace him, to boost the sagging numbers. He should have reannounced his long absence, coz certain people who came in late didn't hear. Anyway, the class was great as usual, though it is getting quieter now with the absence of Certifiable Stevie, and Janvier, who has choir practice. How cultured.

Last Monday, again I had to skip FPI's class, coz had to bring the kids for their swimming lesson, usually the job of the wife, but she had to work late. So, being the dutiful father that I am, I sacrifice my body pump class. Since FCI is not around, I thought I'd take the chance of exploring the other classes on Tuesday and ended up in Klevin's Body Pump. Argh, after a 2 week break, it was hell on earth. Voodoo child squats, triceps dips, horrendous biceps, and killer shoulders. Great class though. Dunno how come he's developed a thick Aussie accent while he teaches.

Leon was telling me of another instructor who developed this Aussie accent, and went lift roight lift roight (left right), and one of the students thought it was LIFT RIGHT and kept lifting the right leg. Yerr, stick to Manglish can or notch? (unless you're really aussie, then its understandable).
