If I Were You.....

When I signed in yesterday for combat, I saw that familiar name on the list, YOU! Finally, FCI's obsession with the guy was going to be consummated. Afterall, he's always talking about You this and You that. You = Leon, for the uninitiated.

Yhsmom, in a rare guest star appearance, was pleased coz she was looking forward to Leon's hairspray performance. Since FCI always omitted the entertainment part for that track, I had no idea what to expect. Sunshine was also there, so it was like a mini reunion, missing only Lionheart and Megs.

FCI seemed unusually animated, and also highly witty. Leon must certainly bring out the best in him. At one track, he said, "come on, shout for me..." then said, "come on...shout for You".... I missed that cue so couldnt shout on time, but the next time he did that, yea, I made it a point to shout for "you". Then came track 5, the supposedly famous hairspray track. However, since FCI himself didn't perform his part of the performance, Leon's movements looked a bit out of place....and out of context. Sigh, what an anticlimax.

I love his choice of track 6 & 7. Track 6, the shimmy one, always reminds me of Alvin Phey, who shimmies like there is not tomorrow. FCI never shimmy one. Track 7 is that very old muay thai track with the one one knee one scissors move. For the conditioning, he remarked that all instructors, male and female, must do pushups on toes. I couldn't see Aileen's expression from where I was. Leon did make an attempt. He also alluded to "you two lovebirds, on your toes". I have no idea WHO he was referring to. I couldn't do the pushups at all, having strained my arm too much at yesterday's pump, which was hell, after a two week hiatus.

I have to say it was a great class, and not just because Leon was there per se, but because of how Leon's presence seemed to add that animatedness and witty repartee from FCI.

Blog On Life Support System

If this blog were a human, it would be pretty close to a comatose state, or may even have flatlined somewhere along the line. I guess after 3 years of blogging about gym, it's hard to keep the juices flowing, and even Dallas and Dynasty had to eventually close shop.

Anyway, I've also been not very regular over the last couple of weeks, as spent most of last week down and out with a high fever and sore throat, and a cough that is still lingering on. I have vague memories of attending body step two fridays ago, when I was the only rose amongst the thorns. Instructor was SWPMC. (She Who Popped My Cherry). It was a damn good workout, despite it being the new release. Actually I have no complaints about the new release, except for the weird stomp-gallop thingamajig around the board, that felt really tough on the knees at first.

I then vaguely recall YI's class, coz in that class, it was all batangs, and only one thorn. I also remember Lion wasn't there, much to the instructor's disappointment. When Lion is not there, the bar is lowered, (not in quality, but in terms of overall weights).... and the strongest guy in the room was 15kg on each side for squats. Fellow pumper, Ken, and me, would always look at wonderment at Lion's weights whenever he's in the class.

Then on Tuesday, it was FCI's combat, which was a great class, but literally drained every last ounce of energy and resistance from me, coz immediately after that, I started getting the shivers, and had to wrap myself in a blanket coz it felt like a Siberian Winter. The temperature (ironic huh, fevers, your body is burning up, but internally you feel like you're in a freezer) shot up to 39.5C and stayed there for the next 36 hours. I was also bedridden for that same amount of time, much to the amazement of those around me, including myself. I have NEVER been hit THIS badly by bacteria before, and have certainly never slept that long before. That ruled out gym for the next few days for me.

Couldn't make it to YI's pump on Monday, had to meet with client. Last night, went for FCI's class again, ....end of new release. He announced that he was waiting for a friend to come and teach with him, heh heh, turns out he was referring to Leon Lai. Anyway, Leon's FFK-ed, so he had to teach alone, though it was obvious, the first song, IF I WERE YOU, was dedicated to Leon.
Great class. One of FCI's regulars from Axis was raving about how good he is, how inspiring he is, bla bla bla.....
